Bloody good Aussie band - shock horro. Ive just been introduced to this band from Perth and I’m smitten! They may be a hairy scruffy bunch of oiks but bloody hell they can write a good tune. The lead singer sounds a bit like the guy from Mercury Rev but there’s no harm in that!

30 years after The Stranglers recorded this song I can still feel the raw anger in Hugh Cornwells voice. He was pissed off about something and it still comes through in this recording even today. Funny but when the boss at work pisses me off I start to hum this tune in my head! I could imagine Gordan Ramsey chilling out in the kitchem to this song just before he throws a knife at someone whose burnt the spuds.

Hmmmm the lyrics to this song make no sense, in fact they read like a chemical reaction, but if you could work out the answer I’m sure it would be “Im leaving you”

This weeks competition is in the form of a question (That way I can resonably sure of not stuffing it up like last week)
The question is thus:- Name the English 80’s soul singer who murdered a Joy Division song and for bonus points the title of the song he butchered!
Get cracking for the prize is luuurvvely!

No wasteland here, just a stark barren landscape as dark and depressing as an East London housing estate - okay its a Wasteland!

Back in the 80’s they really knew how to do Goth. In fact they could do it to death if that isnt a contradiciton in terms. They didnt do corner shop Goth as they do today - they did Chernobyl sized industrila sized steel mills Goth! This Sisters Of Mercy track shows just how grand and epic it could be!

We have a winner, although by default and due to a technical glitch………………. Smudge from the UK was the first person to identify the mystery track as “Doot Doot” by the Welsh band Freur.
However as in all competitions of such a high calibre it wouldnt be fair to award the prize to Smudge as the technical glitch renders it null and void. Ive rolled the prize over for next weeks comp!
Oh special mention must also go to Mr R. Berg of Australia who emaield with an extensive history of the band, its amazing to think there are still such obsessive fans out there!
